The Virtual Mystery Tour is the creation of sex educator L. Kris
Gowen, PhD, EdM. Kris has been teaching, writing, and researching
sex for over 10 years. She runs the Virtual Mystery Tour workshops
with her students from Portland State University. These students
have in-depth knowledge of the internet and the cyberspaces where
teens hang out and have been trained to work with parents to answer
questions and alleviate concerns.
We believe in highlighting the positive aspects of the Internet as an
educational tool and social space. While we recognize there are
dangers associated with cyberspace, we wish to calm people's fears
through education and understanding. Our workshops are not
meant to alarm; they are meant to enlighten.
To educate adults about how teens use the internet so that they
can talk to their teens about their time online without fearing for
their safety. We are constantly shaping our workshops to fit the
needs of our audiences.
